6. It takes Grandma 120 minutes to walk to the shop. It takes
Grandpa 2 hours to walk to the shop. Who takes the longest?
6.3 Understanding the 12-hour clock
This clock shows 12 hours. It measures the
time from midnight to midday and from
midday to midnight. The starting point (or
the zero point) is at the top of the clock where
the 12 is.
The clock face is divided into 60 sections to
show 60 minutes. The short hand is the hour
hand. The long hand is the minute hand.
The minute hand moves around the clock face once every
60 minutes. While the minute hand moves around the clock
once, the hour hand moves to the next hour.
One hour is the same length of
time as 60 minutes. So:
